Funereal is a death metal band that emerged from the ashes of Contagion in the early 1990s. Although the band recorded its only full-length in 1994, the album remained unreleased until 2000 before Funereal disappeared into obscurity. The lineup featured two members of Cianide, including drummer Andy Kuizin, who remains with the band today. Meanwhile, James Bresnahan, the band’s guitarist, is playing in Kommandant.

In 2026, the album was made available on vinyl for the first time. Extremely Rotten Productions released it in Europe, while M.N.B. Records (Cianide’s own label) took care of the American edition. It finally gives the album the format it has long deserved, preserving a forgotten chapter of Chicago’s death metal legacy. Metal never bends!
